Quotables
- “Casting compelling vision about what could be possible and what could happen as a result of making major change is certainly a part of being a visionary leader and a part of good leadership. Then, how you actually get people there to fulfill that vision or that dream is the real challenge of getting it done over a period of time to produce the change you really envision.”
- “The best leadership definition I’ve been able to find, and I have used it for years, ‘Leadership is an influence relationship among leaders and followers who intend real change.’ It’s different than management… but leadership is about real change.”
- “The greatest factor in maintaining our unity, apart from the Holy Spirit simply working spiritually among us… in terms of the organizational aspects of what produced our unity, it was a shared commitment to our mission.”
- “Leading change takes a toll on a leader… It’s uncanny to me how many leaders I talk with that complete a major change process and then leave the ministry they were at, and it’s because they exhaust themselves.”
- “You’ve got to prepare before you go into a major change, and you’ve got to make a plan to sustain yourself through it so that emotionally, spiritually, physically as a leader you can thrive as a change leader.”
- “And the (third) thing that has really helped me is to take off the rose-colored glasses when I read the bible.”
- “So, as a leader you’re going to have to understand, sometimes you are going to get miraculous deliverance, and sometimes, you’re going to have to stay in prison for two years. But both times, you are doing what you are supposed to be doing.”
