This week on the Church Leadership Podcast, we have a special episode for out listeners. Mark and Andy let you listen in on a weekly meeting with a discipleship group of pastors. This “Pastor’s Huddle” is made up of some fantastic pastors and church leaders from Alabama and Colorado, who meet over a video call to learn about following Jesus, ministry, leadership, loving your family, and so many other important topics. As you hear from these guys, you will notice they do not miss an opportunity to encourage one another, but they also make sure to have fun and laugh when they are together. Cody Hale, Bo Hamilton, Justin McKay, Ben Posey, Mark, and Andy talk about what a group like this means to each of them and how this group has helped them navigate through the unique and challenging times we are experiencing.

Snippets from the Conversation
Mark – “It has been such a joy to be with these guys, week in and week out, and learn from them and see how God is using them and growing them.”

Andy – “Whether it be inside or outside the church you are serving at, or both, you need people in your life who will pour life into you, invest in you, encourage you, but also hold you accountable.”

Cody – “When you are trying to pour into others from a depleted tank, it’s not very effective.”

Bo – “One of the interesting things I’ve found in this huddle, instead of going home and putting that load on them, I can put it off on you guys. And it’s a load that we all share equally.”

Justin – “I’m having to pivot and learn some new stuff, and this group has been so helpful for me with other lead pastors, to learn from you guys and kind of catch up and get a head start for some of the heaviness of what I am about to walk through.”

Ben – “Since I’ve been in ministry, there hasn’t been enough encouragement in the disciple making process for pastors to do that.”

Bo – “I can’t imagine trying to walk through this time period, this past year, without having a group.”

Justin – “And often times, pastors don’t have that outlet. You know, they don’t have a group. It’s just them or their wife, and they don’t have a group to vent or share these things and process. That’s been really good for my soul, and I think every pastor needs to be in a group like this…”

Cody – “I think it brought me spiritual vitality, and it improved my emotional health… and it really comes back to the brotherhood I found with you guys.”

Ben – “And in the midst of this pandemic, with all the chaos and changing from week to week, especially early on, the consistency of this group for me was probably the most beneficial.”
